2019 Credit Professional of the Year Award – SICA-US
On behalf of The Sports Industry Credit Association (SICA-US), our entire membership and sponsors, we proudly announce this year’s recipient of the “Credit Professional of the Year”, Mr. Jim Bruce from Patagonia.
Mr. Jim Bruce
About Mr. Bruce:
Jim was previously with Burton Snowboards where he spent 15 years in various roles culminating in Director of North American Sales Operations. 18 months ago he relocated to California to join Patagonia as the Director of Credit.
Jim is passionate about supporting college internship programs geared to nurture next-gen Credit Professionals. He is an active professional mentor, coach and consultant external to his day-to-day role.
Jim’s boss and Global Controller of PATAGONIA, Ms. Jolene Benedik, said “Jim has been the leader of our credit and collections department at Patagonia since June of 2018. In that short time, he has developed critical relationships internally and externally that have had a significant impact on Patagonia. Patagonia has always valued customer relationships and Jim has exemplified those values and expanded on those relationships in substantial ways. …
Over his tenure he has encouraged and mentored his team … He has elevated his team members and helped them find additional satisfaction and meaning in their jobs.
I am excited that Jim is receiving the Credit Professional of Year award from SICA. He exemplifies the qualities outlined and is much deserving of the recognition. Congratulations, Jim!

About the award:
SICA launched this award to recognize our industry’s top Credit Professionals; who embody the following characteristics: Leadership, professional and industry knowledge and who are a valuable resource to their industry peers. Candidates are nominated by their peers.
Through this process numerous credit professionals were nominated from all across North America. Subsequently, a panel of judges from our industry independently reviewed the submissions and narrowed down to select a finalist. We would like to thank our membership for their participation.
